The focus here is the professional side of my life, in contrast to the rest of the site content which I personally find fun and interesting.
Current Status
After six years of working at Balbix, I am out looking for my next role. My experience in cybersecurity / InfoSec is pretty broad after creating and running the security & privacy program at Balbix. The roles I am considering include:
- Information Security – Director or Manager: running a security program, particularly at a small to medium sized company
- First security-focused hire (can be same titles as above or ones like Security Lead, Security Engineer): creating or formalizing a security program at a small company. Before hiring me, the company had several security controls in place but it wasn’t anyone’s full time job and getting to ISO 27001 or SOC 2 required hiring someone.
- Security Engineer: I am particularly suited for security engineer roles on the IT/enterprise/corporate side – managing laptops, SAAS, IAM, etc.
- Customer Trust: having met often with customers, responded to their inquiries (requests for documents or for me to fill out a spreadsheet) I am prepared to be the primary security contact for customers – to get them what they need and gain their trust.
If the company, role and other details align then I might also consider more specific roles in risk (e.g. third-party risk), vulnerability management or GRC (with less of a technical or security focus).
